This property has two mansions and one feature you would never expect
A sprawling 52,000 square meter property in Carthage, Missouri is for sale with not one but two huge Victorian mansions built next to each other.
Priced at $ 4.3 million, double residences almost seem like good value for money compared to what 4.3 large residences will buy you in Sydney or Melbourne.
But the dual domicile arrangement of this real estate ad is only half the story.
The fascinating thing about this property is the relationship between the two houses.
To say that the two mansions are intertwined is a statement of fact, as underneath the two dwellings is a huge, interconnected underground tunnel large enough to render an apocalyptic preparer weak to his knees.
We don’t know why the current owners did this (wouldn’t it be easier to walk between the houses on the manicured lawn?), But the underground walkway is just the tip of an eccentric iceberg.
Other very odd features of both houses are an almost overwhelming level of exposed brick, stone, wood, and OTT ornamentation.
There is also a strange bell-shaped chapel on the property which can probably be described as slightly eerie.
Inside the particular structure is a large Eldritch-looking throne that has been carved out of a giant tree trunk, which still sits on the exposed earth below.
Other outlier features include a walk-in closet-sized safe, a dining area that resembles a set of Game of thrones, and seemingly endless amounts of stained glass and skylights.
We’re not sure exactly who will buy this property, but to the person who does, hats off: this is truly a unique offer.
