The 20 Best TV Shows of 2022 (So Far)

Slow Horses — Official Trailer | AppleTV+

The hardest I’ve laughed watching a new show this year (so far) happened during an episode slow horses, when Coldplay’s “The Scientist” explodes in Min’s (Dustin Demri-Burns) car as he and the co-worker he clearly has a crush on, Louisa (Rosalind Eleazar), drive through the streets of London during a particularly tense moment. . (You see, his car radio has his A rush of blood to the head CD housed in it, and it automatically plays on a loop, loud, and since the album came out 20 years ago.) It’s admittedly an odd choice. slow horses is, of course, a thriller, and a very good thriller at that, and there have been plenty of comedies worthy of the name this year. But the way this heart-pounding ballad on the sleeve cut through the tension with a burst of absurdity was just right…perfect and kind of illustrated how unique this show is. The series, which follows a group of lunatics in MI5 referred to as the pejorative Slow Horses, has already been renewed in season four. And Gary Oldman, hilarious as a chain-smoking boss’s dick, says it may be his last role. Which is as good a character as any for the famous actor to pull off, IMHO. Also, let’s have more premium shows with six-episode seasons, please! [Tim Lowery]
