Florida man goes viral after defending his home against an alligator.

TMZ reports that Army veteran Abdul Gene Malik was taking out the trash this week when he was confronted by a snarling gator.

In a video that has since gone viral, Malik can be seen approaching the reptile head-on with a trash can. As he approaches the predator, Malik lowers the lid, which falls and hits the unexpected (and unexpected) alligator in the head. He charges Malik, making his way straight into the trash.

“Let me know when the head goes inside [the bin]! ”Malik said to the spectators.“ Let me know! Someone warn me when my head gets in the thing!

When someone shouts: “The head is in! Malik drops the cover over the alligator’s head and straightens the trash can, completing his successful plan to capture the animal.

Speaking to TMZ about the incident, Malik said: “I have children to protect.”
