Model Linda Evangelista claims CoolSculpting procedure left her brutally disfigured and reclusive
Model Linda Evangelista, one of the most requested models of the 1990s, shockingly claimed that the reason she had withdrawn from the public eye in recent years was that she had been left “brutally” disfigured ”after CoolSculpting treatment — a popular non-surgical procedure that uses cold temperature to break down fat cells. The 56-year-old said the treatment made her ‘unrecognizable’ after ‘increasing, not shrinking, my fat cells and left me permanently deformed even after having had two painful and unsuccessful corrective surgeries.’ in an Instagram post Wednesday night.
Evangelista said she would file a lawsuit against Allergan, which markets and licenses CoolSculpting devices, saying she has developed paradoxical fat hyperplasia (PAH), a “very rare but serious side effect” of cryolipolysis. She said she was not told about the risks before her treatment about five years ago. “PAH not only destroyed my livelihood, it put me in a cycle of deep depression, deep sadness and the lowest level of self-loathing,” she added. “In the process, I became a recluse… I’m so tired of living this way. I would like to walk out of my door with my head held high, even though I no longer look like myself. “
