Kahraba makes an instant impression for Hatayspor as Galatasaray win

Al Ahly loan Mahmoud Kahraba made a spectacular debut as he helped Hatayspor defeat Galatasaray in Turkey’s Super Lig.

Just days ago, Kahraba embarked on a new journey after being loaned out for six months from African champions Al Ahly to Turkish club Hatayspor in search of more playing time.

Given the number 9 shirt, Kahraba was benched when Hatayspor hosted Mostafa Mohameds Galatasaray in the 21st round of the Turkish Super Lig.

While Mostafa Mohamed is currently playing with the Pharaohs in AFCON 2021, the game was the first for new head coach Domènec Torrent, who had replaced legendary Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim just this week.

The impact of the new Spain coach was felt by the Galatasaray players as they put Emre Kilinc ahead after just 23 minutes.

Galatasaray had a chance to double their lead with a penalty five minutes later; However, former Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt had saved his penalty.

A penalty from ex-Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf leveled the home side in the 43rd minute, before a stunning Muhammed Aktürkoğlu free-kick in the final moments of the first half put Galatasaray back in front.

In the second half, the hosts were the more dominant team, who equalized again in the 62nd minute through Mohammed Kamara to make it 2-2.

Ömer Erdoğan threw Mahmoud Kahraba on for Kamara looking for the winner after 76 minutes and the Egyptian immediately produced an impressive display for his new club.

Just three minutes after coming on, Kahraba used his fresh legs and pace to launch a counterattack before sending Saba Lobzhanidze through with a superb through ball for the Georgian to find the net and put his side ahead.

The same player nailed another counterattack in the 91st minute to give Hatayspor a 4-2 win.

The win moved Hatayspor to third place in the Turkish Super Lig on 35 points, four behind second-placed Konyaspor, who have Ahmed Hassan Kouka in their ranks.

On the other hand, Galatasaray continued their descent down the table and now sit in 13th place with 27 points, just six from the relegation zone.
