4/29 Content Update Notes - Showdown, Default Weapon Changes, Bonus GP/EXP Passes and more!

For 4/29, another dangerous mission has been added to the roster... Operation: Showdown is going to take you soldiers into the heart of a gun smuggling ring in coastal China. Don't worry, Central Command is providing a whole new set of weapons, boosts, and supplies to ensure your survival. Good luck, brave men and women of CA... you're going to need it.

New War Zone: Showdown

SITREP: Weapons are being trafficked through a port city in Southern China. The local police don't have the kind of training and equipment to deal with this problem, so they've called in private security forces. Vehicles carrying illicit weapons have been spotted driving in and out of a warehouse on the outskirts of town. Storm the warehouse, seize the smuggled weapons, and take out the terrorists.

Other New NX Items

Tired of your M16A3? Trade it for a new default primary weapon with one of the following weapon changes:
-- Default Primary Weapon Change - AK-47
-- Default Primary Weapon Change - M4A1
-- Default Primary Weapon Change - SR25
-- Default Primary Weapon Change - MP5A4

Give your match earnings a boost! Both types of passes can be used individually or in conjunction for each game:
-- Bonus GP Pass (25%) -- Earn an extra 25% GP with this pass active!
-- Bonus EXP Pass (25%) -- Earn an extra 25% EXP with this pass active!

The prices for all Custom Crosshairs (Reticle) items have changed:
-- the 7-day option is now 1,500 NX; and the 30-day option is now 2,900 NX

Server Configuration Changes

We've added two new server types:

-- The new Delta server is the battleground for the most elite of elite operators. You may be good, but here, you'll find out if you're really the best of the best.

In order to fight on Delta, you'll have to:
-- be ranked Sergeant First Class 1 or higher
-- have a KDR of 1.5 or higher

The rewards for fighting on Delta are great. Matches on Delta will reward our most hardened soldiers with a 40% EXP boost and a 20% GP boost. Stats for action on Delta will be tracked separately on your web Player Profile for visible bragging rights.

-- We're also trying out a new Black Market server -- a special channel for customers of the Black Market. If you have spent 15,000 NX or more in the Black Market, you'll automatically be eligible to enter.

Finally, we've also added one additional server channel to both Alpha and Bravo (2 more channels total).

Nutshot is here to stay!

We heard you loud and clear, brave (and masochistic) soldiers -- Nutshot will remain in Combat Arms as a permanent feature to inflict humiliation on your foes.

Other Game Changes & Updates

-- Vote Kick feature added. Please note that this feature is disabled for One Man Army and Spy Hunt game modes
-- Game loading UI and map loading screens have been updated
-- Map glitches in Gray Hammer and Junk Flea have been fixed
-- M590 Military and M590 Mariners damage has been reduced
-- The MP5 SD has been renamed to the MP5 MOD. No functions have been changed
-- Pistols have been rebalanced with slight increases to draw speeds
-- The "Custom Crosshairs" items have been renamed to "Custom Reticle". No functions have been changed
-- Rank requirements have been added to many standard weapons:
-- Recruit rank: M14, K1A, SPAS-12, G23
-- Private rank: AK-47, SR25, MK48, M23F
-- Private First Class rank: FAMAS, MSG-90, K7, M1911 MEU
-- Corporal rank: SCAR-L, M60, USP, LAW
-- Sergeant rank: G36E, L96A1, UMP
-- Staff Sergeant 1 rank: AUG-A1, M590 Military, K3
-- Staff Sergeant 2 rank: P90
-- Switching server channels is now easier with the added "Change Channel" button in the lobby.
-- Server lobby chat now has scroll lock.
-- Addressed a Heartbeat Detector bug where players could stay on the team radar forever.
-- The ACOG TA3 Scope on the MP5 MOD will now display HP & Ammo.
-- Fixed an issue where the game would hang if channels were quickly selected.

New Server Configuration

These new changes sound pretty good to me.. check it out:
More game rooms per channel are coming! The battlefield just got a whole lot easier to navigate...

During our server maintenance tonight, we will be making several changes, including upgrading server and channel capacity. Rather than you having to browse through multiple servers, we've consolidated the channels to make finding the match you want much easier! Don't worry if you see fewer channels after tonight, each channel's capacity will be multiple times larger than they are now -- each server group will have fewer channels, but there will be many more players and game rooms per channel. (You may have already noticed this on the current Bravo channels where we have been conducting our capacity testing.)

Below are the new server groups, in effect post-maintenance:

-- Jackson [Recruit] - Jackson will remain the boot camp for all new recruits, perfect for beginners to get used to the game. Trainees through Privates can hone their skills on Jackson before jumping into other more hardened battlegrounds.

-- Alpha [All] - These servers will be open to players of all ranks, just as before.

-- Bravo [Grunt] - The Grunt server type (Advanced Beginner) lives on as Bravo. Those ranked Sergeant and below will be able to play on Bravo.

-- Charlie [Sergeant] -- A new Sergeant server type will be the home for Sergeants (SGT) through Command Sergeant Major 5s (CSM5). If your rank has the word "Sergeant" in it, you'll be able to battle on Charlie. Soldiers playing on Charlie will earn a 10% EXP Bonus.

-- Kilo [Officer] -- The bar just got higher to be considered a high-ranker! Now, you'll have to be at least a Command Sergeant Major 1 in order to enter this exclusive officer's zone. As a reward for your hard-earned rank, soldiers playing on Kilo will automatically be rewarded a 20% EXP Bonus and a 10% GP Bonus for all matches!

-- Bulldog [Clan] -- Bulldog will remain the place for Clan vs. Clan warring.

Please note we will also be officially terminating service to South America tonight at 10pm PST... a farewell salute to all of you down south for being worthy adversaries.

4/8 Content Update Notes - Supply Drop: Shotguns Galore!

Got some patch news from HQ, here you go:
Attention, Soldiers! CentCom is making a quick supply drop for all of you out in the field. We have two new Supply Cases for you where you can find rare pistols or shotguns! The sleek and lethal M590 Mariners is also coming your way, as well as new Custom Crosshairs and the imposing ROKMC Hat worn by South Korean Marines.

New NX Items

-- Supply Case P-N – Supply Cases that may hold rare pistols such as the Anaconda Silver 8-inch or the USP Tactical.
-- Supply Case SG-N – Supply Cases that may hold rare shotguns such as the M590 CQB, the M590 CQB Mariners, or the SPAS-12 Stock.
-- M590 Mariners Primary Weapon: Shotgun
-- ROKMC Hat Head Gear
-- Custom Crosshair Type 2 – A “T” shaped reticle with customizable colors.
-- Custom Crosshair Type 4 – An “O” shaped reticle with customizable colors.

Content Update Schedule Change

This is Combat Arms’ very first time release update. Our regular monthly content update (which will require server downtime) will now take place the last Wednesday of every month. This will be followed approximately two weeks later by a time-released new content update that won’t require a server shutdown such as this one. This is our way or ensuring that all of you warriors out there have a steady supply of weapons and gear to keep you going on the battlefield!

How to Own with the M590 Military: a WhereDidItGo Guide

Few tips by WhereDidItGo from the Nexon message boards... enjoy!
# Bunny hop. Bunny hop, bunny hop, bunny hop. I cannot emphasize this one enough. If you don't bunny hop, you will get your face shot off. Even if you do bunny hop, you still stand a good chance of getting your face shot off. But at least you tried.

# Get into range. Yes, the M590 has the possibility of being a one-shot kill, but that's only at close range. If you try to kill an AR user at medium or long range, you'll get laughed at and shot.

# Make sure that your shot is going to hit. The M590 is more of a "quality over quantity" weapon than assault rifles. For most long-time AR users, it will be tough to develop the precision, accuracy, and agility that the M590 requires. Actually, I've been using an M590 for a month now and I'm still working on it.

# Avoid fighting in tight areas. Yes, the M590 is a close-quarters weapon, but its hard to land a sold hit when your intended target is running in circles around you at Mach 3. Whenever you can, try to take the fight outside, then shoot your target as they run out the door.

# Get your target running straight at you. You are like the matador who tempts bulls to charge him and then sidesteps them at the last second. Except you're not a matador, you're target isn't a bull, and you're trying to blow their brains out with a shotgun instead of deftly sidestepping them. So really, you're nothing like a matador. You should probably move on to the next point now.

# Reload whenever you're not getting shot at. Hell, reload while you're getting shot at if you feel like it. One of the M590'S great draws is its ability to fire a shell mid-reload. Consequently, there's no need for a "tactical reload".

# Know your limitations. Remember, you can't hit anyone at long range, your first few shots will probably miss, and you can't fight in tight spaces. That being said, you can kill pretty much anybody in one hit, so it all evens out in the end

Junk Flea CTF Is Back!

Yay! I'm so glad Nexon is listening to the community.
In addition to Nexon-wide server maintenance, we will be implementing a small patch to bring back the CTF game mode for Junk Flea. Certain game modes were originally removed during the 3/24 content update for game balance reasons and to prevent player abuse. However, due to player response, we have decided to bring this mode back. For some added insanity, we'll be trying out CTF for the Death Room map as well, which we hope you'll enjoy.
